Abstract:

Amorphous glassy oxide nm-layered composites could be interesting new materials for 3rd generation
gravitational wave detectors, combining high refraction index, low mechanical losses and good cryogenic
behaviour. Key underlying ideas, design criteria, and ongoing experimental results are reviewed.
