Abstract:

This specification controls the process of welding aluminum and stainless steel for parts (weldments) intended for service inside the Ultra-High Vacuum (UHV) for the Advanced LIGO project. Unless otherwise directed all weldments should be in fabricated in compliance with this specification.
This specification does not cover welding elements of the vacuum envelope itself, but rather parts which are placed within the vacuum envelope.

Notes and Changes:

1) This new release covers the removal of bright dip from the description as an allowed process for cleaning Alum. The replacement is to chemically clean / etch by acid and / or caustic processes the parts and weldment's.
