- This video shows the small Michelon interferometer demo that we take to LIGO exhibits. This uses a laser pointer and a compact 100-mm arm-length interferometer that fits in a transportable toolbox. The shorter video explains the layout and simulates the effect of a gravitational wave by pulling by hand on a hair bungee connected to the y-arm mirror. A strain of 1.5e-6 results in displacement of the fringe pattern from bright to dark. The longer video is meant for stand-along use with discussion of the numbers in more detail.
