Abstract:

Study of images of the the advanced LIGO mirror illuminated by the stored beam show hundreds of thousands of individual scattering points of continuously decreasing amplitude. The large number of scatterers observed indicate that the scatterers are most likely the result of a thermodynamic nucleation process.
