Abstract:

The Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave
Observatory (LIGO) is currently installing
the Advanced
LIGO interferometers, designed to measure
the space-time distortions due to binary
neutron star
mergers. At the same time Advanced Virgo
in Europe and KAGRA in Japan are also being
built. I will discuss the prospects of this
international network of gravitational-wave
detectors, look at the required technology
and give an update on the installation progress.
