Online all-sky burst searches during the joint S6/VSR2 LIGO-Virgo science run

Abstract:

In 2009 LIGO and Virgo detectors will start a joint science run S6/VSR2 that is expected to continue until 2011. We plan to perform a low-latency online analysis for gravitational wave bursts identifying event candidates and their sky coordinates within a few minutes after the data is collected. Such events can be passed off to other observatories (optical/radio/x-ray) for prompt follow-up study of possible electromagnetic counterpart. In this talk we describe our online pipeline and its application to coincident measurements with external observatories.
