Abstract:
I will summarize the current status and near future plans for the LIGO, VIRGO and the GEO detectors. These detectors run jointly in a network taking data in 2007, and plan to run again in 2009-2010 with enhanced sensitivity. The detectors achieved record sensitivities in 2007, and are expected to achieve even better sensitivities in the near future. There has been steady progress for Advanced detectors to be ready in the near future, which are expected to detect many gravitational waves from binary neutron stars per year, and open a new era for gravitational wave astronomy.
